220 Grain 300 Blackout Ammo | Fenix Ammo

220 grain 300 Blackout ammo is the original whisper. The cartridge started life as .300 Whisper, built to push 7.62x39 class energy through an AR at full magazine capacity, and our 220gr FMJ subsonic is that idea in its purest form: maximum ballistic energy from a heavy projectile at 1,000 FPS, quiet enough behind a suppressor to hear your bolt cycle. 100 round packages, loaded in Novi, Michigan.

Quiet Practice Without Premium Projectiles

The 220gr FMJ exists so suppressed practice does not cost expanding projectile money. Full metal jacket, 1,000 FPS, and all the hush the Blackout promised. When the job needs expansion at subsonic speed, its 190gr Sub-X stablemate takes over.

Our 220 grain subsonic has been tested to function in several rifles with barrel lengths from 8" to 10.5", with and without suppressors. However, rifle setups vary widely. You may need to adjust your gas settings and/or swap buffer weights to find the best performance for your weapon. One package proves your setup.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the 220 grain load truly subsonic?

Yes. 1,000 FPS at a 2.150" overall length, under the sound barrier from practical barrel lengths.

Why 220 grain?

Heavier projectiles carry maximum ballistic energy at subsonic speed. That was the founding idea of the .300 Whisper that became the Blackout.

Will my rifle cycle it?

Tested in 8" to 10.5" barrels with and without cans, but setups vary. Expect to possibly adjust gas settings or buffer weights.
